Once again, APS will be participating in Open City’s Park Lit reading series. This year, we’ll be reading in Fort Greene Park with APS contributors Leslie Jamison, Keith Lee Morris, and Nam Le. Come enjoy a beautiful day in the park with some very talented writers!
Now in its fifth season, Park-Lit is an outdoor summer reading series
sponsored by Open City, Mr. Beller¹s Neighborhood, and the New York City
Department of Parks & Recreation. Each reading takes place in a different
park and is curated by the editors of a local literary magazine.

On January 9, Amanda Stern hosted APS contributors Ian Chillag, Jack Livings, and Jim Shepard, along with John Wray's band Kid Gloves, at Happy Ending, a reading and music series she curates. For anyone unfamiliar with the series, each reader is required to take one public risk, and reading in public cannot be that risk. Although Jim's dog-murder confession and Jack's terrible knock-knock jokes were interesting and entertaining risks, Ian stole the show by inviting a nearly blind, somewhat inebriated audience member (thanks Molly) to cut his hair on stage. Thanks to everyone who came out.
