Submit to A Public Space

Unfortunately, our submission system is on summer holiday and will reopen after Labor Day. You have the rest of the summer to second-guess the entirety of your submission. We are truly sorry.

Fiction, Poetry & Essays

The best way to submit is by using our online system. It’s easy to use, saves time and paper and postage, and enables you to keep track of your submission. Snail mail submissions can be sent to the address at the bottom of the page. Please be sure to include an SASE.

Only previously unpublished work will be considered. Simultaneous submissions are allowed. We can only accept one piece of fiction or nonfiction at a time, and only four poems at a time (all in one file). Translations are always welcome, as are novel excerpts.

We read every submission, and respond as quickly as we can; our current wait-time is six months. If you have any questions along the way, email us at general[at]apublicspace[dot]org.

If You See Something Say Something

If you’re familiar with the magazine, you know that we publish a few short literary op-eds at the beginning of each issue in the section called If You See Something, Say Something. To submit to this section, please send your piece to iyss[at]apublicspace[dot]org.

Illustrated Guides

We also publish illustrated guides to various topics. Examples include a guide to copper mining in Utah and a visual biography of the oldest living member of the Ziegfeld Follies. If you have a completed project or an idea, please e-mail ig[at]apublicspace[dot]org.

Artwork

Sample artwork, to be considered as story illustrations or as portfolios, can be sent to art[at]apublicspace[dot]org. Please send no more than four low-res files. All artwork will be kept on file.
